We've been making brick in America since 1891 — not as a side business, but as our entire reason for being.
Acme Brick Company was founded in Bennett, Texas, when a group of investors recognized that the booming Texas real estate market needed a local, reliable source of quality face brick. The first kiln fired in 1892.
What followed was more than a century of organic growth — plant by plant, color by color, market by market. Today Acme Brick operates more than 20 manufacturing facilities across Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Alabama, and beyond, supplying homebuilders, architects, and contractors across the American South and Midwest.
In 1972, Acme Brick became part of Berkshire Hathaway, bringing financial stability and a long-term ownership philosophy that has allowed us to invest continuously in manufacturing quality and product development — without the short-term pressure that plagues other building material businesses.
The Acme Brick Company was incorporated, and ground was broken for the first manufacturing plant. First product shipment followed in 1892.
New plants opened across Arkansas and Oklahoma to serve the rapidly growing residential construction markets of the post-WWI era. First color catalog published.
Investment in continuous tunnel kilns replaced traditional periodic batch kilns, dramatically improving color consistency and reducing energy per unit fired.
Acme Brick became a Berkshire Hathaway company, securing long-term financial backing that supported continued plant investment through multiple construction downturns.
Acme expanded beyond face brick to offer thin brick veneer, natural stone, and tile products — responding to the growing demand for brick aesthetics in renovation and interior applications.
Operating more manufacturing and distribution locations than any other brick company in our region, Acme Brick remains the material of choice for discerning homebuilders and architects across the American South and Midwest.
Every Acme Brick product is manufactured to meet or exceed published industry standards. We don't self-certify — we test.
